Amy was in hospital over the weekend

Amy has posted a message on Instagram thanking Sara and Tom for their support after she had a Chron’s flare up and ended up in an ambulance over the weekend. She is now staying with Tom’s family and seems to be doing well.

Very sad to hear, her documentary really educated me about Chron’s and it’s horrible to hear she’s gone through that again.

That explains her absence from the show then.

Agreed about the documentary, incredible how she manages it each year and still gives everything to the show and her partnerships.

Hoping Amy gets better soon. I'm glad she had Tom, Sara and Giovanna to look after her, especially as her fiancé and family couldn't be with her, it can't be an easy thing to deal with.

Bless her. I hope she gets better soon.

I echo what others have said about how she manages her condition and yet gives everything to Strictly. She's an amazing talent.

This is not good news, but unfortunately it seems to be part of Amy's reality due to Crohn's. She's an amazing woman and an inspiration. It's how you play the cards you're dealt that shows what you're truly made of.

Wishing her all the best for a speedy recovery, and I'm glad she was amongst friends and had support when things took a turn.

So it is contractual they are there on Saturday then as I would imagine being ill would be a reason to miss a show. Might explain the other notable absentees this week if they were visiting her and watching the show with her.

I hope she feels better soon.

Poor Amy, hope she gets better soon. Well done Tom & Giovanna looking after her, how good are they.

A big 👎to everyone being rude about her not being at Saturday's show

    I hadn’t noticed anyone being rude ☹️

You didn't look very hard then!
Amy is a lovely woman and some of the comments have been very distasteful....Only to be expected on this forum though!

If Tom and Amy were still in and this happened on Saturday, would that have been an automatic finish for them because of the COVID absence in their second week?

Surely it would have been too late for another pro to step in and Tom would have been too shaken.

In ordinary years it would depend on how late, I seem to recall Kevin didn't step in until Saturday afternoon for Neil in 2019 but yeah not sure how it would have worked now with Covid.

But Kevin had been following them during the week, just in case, was he not?

Not as far as I'm aware as Neil only got injured that morning.

The same happened after the Tour in early 2020 when she was really poorly, and she said then about she was running on adrenaline when she was performing and once that stopped the Crohns kicked in. Sorry not a medical expert so probably didn't explain that very well but I guess the same happened this time.

Just read the news online and I hope Amy recovers soon. I too saw her documentary and it gave me a new sense of respect for her.

Lovely to see the way she has been taken in by Tom and his family. Now that is a friend for life!

My best friend has Crohn's as does her Australian cousin.

My friend has had part of her intestine removed and her cousin has a colostomy bag.

Crohn's is very serious and I am so proud of Amy and what an inspiration she is to all Crohn's sufferers.
