Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers provided a positive injury update on Youri Tielemans for the King Power team ahead of a busy December fixture list, thankfully for the Blue Army and Premier League neutrals.

Well, the absence of Tielemans for the Foxes has not quite been as negatively impactful as some predicted. In fact, Leicester have now managed consecutive victories in their previous two fixtures; those games came in two competitions: the Premier League and the Europa League against Watford and Legia Warsaw, respectively.

Rodgers has given James Maddison back his starter status; the England midfielder repaid his boss with five goal involvements in a couple of outings. Padding the central area further, Rodgers has kept the promising but erratic Bouba Soumare in the lineup, alongside the formidable Wilfred Ndidi.

However, the gaffer has given another indication of when the Belgian star may return; clearly he will miss Southampton but Tielemans has a chance of playing Aston Villa:

"“We’ll see where Youri [Tielemans] is at the back end of the week. He’s progressing really well. I saw him out on the pitch with the rehabilitation team today and he looked very strong.“We’ll assess that as the week goes through, but it’s probably going to be more towards the end of the week.”Via Leicester Mercury"

Foxes of Leicester’s verdict of Southampton is an undecided one at present. The jury is still out there. Manager Ralph Hasenhuttl is clearly a good addition to the English top-flight in many ways – an affable persona, interesting insight, being a German technician – yet they seem to go from 9-0 losses – one of which at the Foxes’ hands – to impressive wins at the drop of a hat.

Fortunately for the east Midlands outfit, it was a difficult, gruelling encounter for the Saints up on Merseyside in their 4-0 defeat to a fully firing Liverpool. That boost for the Foxes is combined with the possible omission of Stuart Armstrong who could miss the outing; meanwhile Jack Stephens is back in contention for Hasenhuttl.
