After an exciting season, the following gymnasts have been selected to the 2021 All-North Jersey gymnastics teams.

Coming soon, we will unveil the nominees for Gymnast of the Year, which will be announced at the 2022 North Jersey High School Sports Awards.

Allison Acampora

Fair Lawn junior

Competing as an independent, Acampora became the Cutters’ first Bergen County all-around champ since 2002. She also won the county bars and beam titles, and for the season, she tied Jacqueline Bernardo for North Jersey’s highest scores in both events (8.7 and 9.5, respectively). Her all-around best was 36.2.

Jacqueline Bernardo

Wayne Hills junior

The reigning North Jersey Gymnast of the Year retained her Passaic County all-around title, adding gold medals on vault, bars and beam. Bernardo won all-around and vault titles at the NJGL-B meet, scoring a North Jersey-best 9.25 in the latter. Her season-high in the all-around was 36.3, tops in the area.

Shayna Braver

Ramapo freshman

Braver emerged as the Bergen vault champion, helping the runner-up Raiders to their best county finish in five years. She also won the NJGL-B uneven bars title and had North Jersey’s No. 2 bars score (8.65) for the season. Her other 2021 bests were 9.05 on vault and beam, 9.5 on floor and 35.225 all-around.

Penelope Caswell

Ridgewood senior

The Bergen County vault and beam champ as a freshman in 2018, Caswell added another individual gold when she won floor at the NJGL-A meet with a season-high 9.25. She battled back from various injuries to help the Maroons secure their first team titles at the county and league meets since 2006.

Fiona Gough

Wayne Valley freshman

Gough had North Jersey’s No. 1 score on the floor exercises (9.6 in a dual meet), and she captured the floor championship at the Passaic County meet. She scored a season-best 9.35 on the balance beam at the NJGL Division A meet to win the gold medal there, and her highest all-around total was 35.05.

Olivia Montalbano

Westwood junior

The independent competitor joined Sara Buchner (2017) as a North 1 sectional floor champion for the Cardinals. Montalbano went on to place 18th in the state for the event. She also won floor gold at the Bergen meet (season-high 9.5), and she placed top-five on both bars and beam at the county event.
