Amado Salazar Prieto
Amado Salazar Prieto, 86, passed away on November 19, 2021 in Las Vegas, NV. He was born on September 13, 1935 in Delta, CO to Tiburcio Prieto and Isabel Salazar.
Amado worked with his parents as they traveled state to state working in the fields. He married Janie Monzolo in Overton, NV on February 14, 1961.
He worked for Union Pacific Railroad for many years as a Section Man. He loved being in the outdoors, and volunteered for the local state parks for many years, cleaning up and hosting campgrounds.
He and Janie would travel all over the western states and coast in their motor home until her passing. Amado loved serving others and was friendly to everyone. He would often bring extra waters to help those stranded on the highway. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, and would play baseball with them.
Amado is survived by his children: Amado (Debbie) Prieto Jr., Candelaria “Penny” (Daniel) Maldonado, Clementine (William) Naughton, and Tina (Leland) Ratliff; their two adopted children; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his siblings: Sofia Zubia, Natalia Loya, and Gloria Prieto; and a large extended family. He is preceded in death by his wife, Janie Prieto, and his parents.
Funeral services were held at the Moapa Valley Mortuary on Monday, November 29, 2021, with graveside service at the Logandale Cemetery.
