How to Prepare for the Canalave City Gym in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
Byron and all of the trainers in this section will be using Steel-type Pokemon, so you'll want to take in either Fighting, Fire or Ground-type Pokemon to beat him. Gym Leader Byron has a trio of powerful Pokemon that are resistant to most attacks because of their inclination towards Steel. This is where Water-based attacks come in handy, as do Fighting, Ground and Dark attacks
Lastly, we recommend that your Pokemon are a minimum of Level 36 to take on Byron.

Then follow the path to the south and take the platform down. Follow it to the west and take on Ace Trainer Cesar's level 30 Skorupi and level 32 Steelix. Once you've beaten them, go left and up to the next platform. Take the platform over to the left to cross the gap and then follow the path around to the left and down to the next platform.
Cross the gap to the north using the platform, then go north and take the second platform to cross the gap to the right. You'll have another trainer to fight here, Worker Gerado and his level 29 and level 30 Onix. Use the platform to the right to cross the gap, then continue to the right. You'll have another trainer to fight here, Black Belt David. He will use a level 30 Onix and a level 32 Steelix
Head south and cross the gap using the platform. Then go right and cross back over to the platform you came from. Step forward and you'll be transported back down to a lower level. You'll be automatically engaged in a battle here with Ace Trainer Breanna. She uses one Pokémon: a level 33 Azumarill. Go left and to the south, stepping on the platform to drop down even further.
You'll see a platform with a red box around the plus sign. This is the platform that will take you up to battle Gym Leader Byron.
We recommend backtracking out of the gym before fighting Byron himself in order to heal. Keep in mind that Byron won't only use a Hyper Potion in this battle, but also a Full Restore, meaning at least two of his Pokemon will be on the verge of defeat before being healed.
