A Ramona woman was struck by a stray bullet in her backyard in what deputies believe was an unintentional shooting Monday afternoon, a sheriff’s lieutenant said.

The shooting was reported about 4:35 p.m. on Walnut Street near Lamar Street. The woman, whose age was unavailable, was shot in her calf and taken to a hospital for treatment, Lt. Mike Krugh said.

The woman was expected to survive, the lieutenant said.

Deputies detained a person who they believe may have fired the round.

“We think it was accidental,” Krugh said
