Khabib Nurmagomedov made waves back in October 2020 when he retired from MMA after a successful title defense at UFC 254. He beat Justin Gaethje by submission and retired in the cage right after.

Now Khabib Nurmagomedov is an MMA promoter for his own brand called Eagle FC. He recently announced that the promotion would be coming to Florida in 2022 and is not a rival to UFC.

Khabib Nurmagomedov recently spoke to ESPN after his promotion announced the move to the USA. He was asked what it would take to bring him back to the UFC.

“Nothing and nobody,” Nurmagomedov said. “We have goals to take back this belt. His name is Islam Makhachev. He [has] to take belt back to Dagestan. I truly believe in him. I truly believe his skill — he can do this. I really believe next — end of the next year — we're gonna take this belt home.”

Unfortunately for UFC fans, it appears Khabib Nurmagomedov has no plans to return to the cage. He is content with his current projects is happy to see his teammate, Islam Makhachev, succeed in his place.

Islam Makhachev is currently set to fight Beneil Dariush in a UFC event in February. The winner is expected to eventually fight for the lightweight belt.

Khabib Nurmagomedov has not shown any plans to return to the UFC since he retired more than a year ago. Many have tried to figure out how to make the Russian return but he has always made it clear that he was done for good.
