Body of 71-year-old man found in icy N.J. river, police say

The discovery of a body in the Rockaway River in the town of Boonton Monday morning is under investigation by police and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, according to a statement from the agencies.

The body of the unidentified 71-year-old man was recovered from the icy river shortly after 10 a.m., the office said.

While the investigation and examination by the medical examiner’s office was ongoing Monday evening, the man’s death is not suspected to be criminal in nature, investigators said.
