Lyon College art students will be featured in the Batesville Area Arts Council’s (BAAC) Art Walk on Main Street, Friday, Dec. 3, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

BAAC is collaborating with Lyon students to host the event, which will offer guests a self-guided viewing of artwork by students and local artists in downtown Batesville. The event is free and open to the public.

Students from Visiting Professor of Art Abigail Smithson’s Advanced Concepts class will host exhibitions of their artwork at three locations. Tristan Buschow and DeVante White will have work on display at the Batesville Mercantile. BIG’s Restaurant will feature artwork by Daisy Connor and Molly Mellor. Alley Edwards, Nicholas McDonald, and Dylan Wyatt will display their artwork on the third floor of the Landers building. Students in Professor of Art Dustyn Bork’s printmaking class will also display their large-scale woodcuts in temporary and permanent locations on Main Street.

Students were given the prompt of “Unite” and addressed social issues with their prints.

BAAC’s gallery (226 E. Main) will host a reception for the 6th Annual BAAC Member Exhibition. This exhibit is a chance to showcase and celebrate the work of BAAC members during the holiday season and features artwork from 15 local and regional artists, including Karen Barker, Bork, Sabina Burnett, Eliseo Casiano, Stanley M. Cole, Carly Dahl, Beau Flores, Phyllis Haynes, Aline McCracken, Merry McSpadden, Ruby Schaaf, Barbara Smock, Diane Tebbetts, Mark Turner, Robbie Turner, and Marcia Wallace. This exhibition is sponsored by First Community Bank.

The five locations on Main Street will be open for viewing artwork, and artists will be present for questions. The locations are as follows:

  • Batesville Mercantile (201 E. Main)
  • BAAC Gallery on Main (226 E. Main)
  • BIG’s Restaurant (231 E. Main)
