Masks will be optional for students and staff in Lolo School District starting Tuesday after Missoula County reported daily new cases below 25 per 100,000 for five consecutive days.
Lolo School District sent out the following:
Face coverings have been required inside Lolo School's buildings since the beginning of the school year. The Board’s policy states that face coverings are required when the daily new cases per 100,000 is 25 or greater, based on a 7-day average. Face coverings can become optional when the County has reported at least five consecutive days below 25. We have been monitoring the data provided by missoulainfo.com. The first day below 25 was Tuesday 11/23/21 at 24.99. The trend continued on 11/24/21 (23.29), 11/25/21 (22.81), 11/26/21 (20.19), 11/27/21 (18.04), and 11/28/21 (17.92); the latter two data points became available today 11/29/21. Based on this data, face coverings will be optional starting Tuesday, November 30, 2021. Students and staff are welcome to continue wearing face coverings as they wish. We expect kindness and courtesy to be extended to all as they make their choices. The school will still provide masks to those who want one, so long as we have adequate supplies.
Please note that if/when the daily new cases per 100,000 is 25 or greater based on a 7-day average, face coverings will be required starting the next school day and will continue to be required until data show at least five consecutive days under 25.
All other health and safety protocols remain in effect. Please help us promote healthy students and staff by keeping kids at home when they’re not feeling well.
