2021 has been a busy year for model-influencer Mia Regan. Over on her Instagram—where she’s known as @Mimimoocher—she’s upheld her status as one of the leading Gen-Z fashion plates while shining a spotlight on small-scale brands. Now, she’s kicked off party season with a bang IRL at the Fashion Awards.

Mia swapped her rave gear—including the cool “charity shop” cargo trousers she wore to a Prada bash last week—for a more “grown-up and elegant” outfit suited to her red-carpet debut from the specialist rental site My Wardrobe HQ.

Rental was a natural choice for the teen who is an advocate of vintage and sustainable fashion. “When you buy a piece of clothing, you want to have it for a long time,” Regan explains. She’s no stranger to borrowing, either. Mia previously revealed to Vogue that she wore her mum’s old Vivienne Westwood shirts to school, and on a recent trip to New York, both she and her boyfriend Romeo Beckham shared a pair of Palace trousers

After much deliberation— “I tried on loads of dresses”—she landed on a fringed Proenza Schouler LBD from My Wardrobe HQ, which is stocked at Harrods. It’s a departure from her typically colourfl dress sense, but she was keen to try something different. “I wanted to push myself out my comfort zone,” explains Regan.

But the look does have an undeniable Mimi Moocher touch. The flippy fringing is perfect for her signature leg-flip pose (refer to her reels to see it in action). “I love the way it hangs on the body,” she asserts. “The dress is simple but effective—that’s the intention, because accessories are the thing I love to do.” Messika supplied sparkling gems for Mia, including a showstopper necklace.

Naturally, she had butterflies ahead of her big red-carpet moment with Beckham. “I think it’s good to have nerves; if you didn’t you wouldn’t be human,” she laughs. Luckily, Victoria Beckham was on hand to offer advice to Mia. “Even just talking about what I’m wearing with her, what nails and make-up I’m going to go for, it’s nice to have that figure,” says Regan. No doubt this will not be her last red carpet.
