Man Argues With Mom About Music Career in Hilarious Viral Video

A video that showed a man arguing with his mom about his music career has gone viral.

The video, found here, was posted to TikTok on Sunday by the man's brother, Lee Marshall (@mrleemarshall), who wrote: "Anyone wanna buy my brother's album to help pay for his insulin?" So far, the post has racked up more than 2 million views and over 175,000 likes.

"My brother dropped an album, quit his job to be a rockstar, and just told my mom at family Thanksgiving dinner," the video's text overlay alleged.

The video opened with Marhsall's brother telling their mother: "I know what I'm doing with my life. Stop telling me what to do—I know what I'm doing."

Their mother, clearly upset, asked: "If you know what you're doing, then why did you quit a job before you had another one? Are you crazy?"

When Marshall's brother argued that his career is basically a "done deal," their mom again asks if he's "crazy."

"You have Type I diabetes, and you need insurance," their mother said near the end of the 42-second clip. Marshall's brother opens his mouth to respond but decides not to say anything.

According to Bustle, there are several signs that it's time for a person to quit their job and focus on their passions. One of those signs is having enough money set aside that'll allow a person to build their brand.

Tictail co-founder and CEO Carl Waldekranz told the publication that he and Tictail's other co-founder Kaj Drobin quit their jobs to build their company after they'd worked overtime to save enough money.

"After six months of working double time, we had also been putting away half of our paycheck into a savings account. We had gotten to a point where we had saved up enough money to quit our jobs so that we could focus on Tictail full-time," he said.

Commenters of Marshall's video were divided about his brother's decision to quit his job to pursue music. Some sided with their mother and argued that it wasn't smart to forgo an income.

"Mom's right honestly. It's not the smartest to not have income set up when quitting a job. Health concerns just add to that," wrote Forrest Truffe.

Real Estate Investing Mentors said: "It's called a SIDE HUSTLE for a reason...Support your needs FIRST."

"It's okay to chase [a] dream and all but at least have a part-time job while working on achieving your dreams," recommended mmkalii.

Others, however, took to the comments section to support Marshall's brother's decision.

"Everybody always thinks your [sic] crazy for dropping everything to pursue your dream until it starts to work out," said Dalton Mauldin.

Caleb Hearn added: "Do what [you] love."

"Chase those dreams Boi!...F everyone," wrote Da'Ron.
