The Golden State Warriors are 18-2 after a big win over the Los Angeles Clippers, and their superstar point guard has played at an MVP level all year. Stephen Curry is tied as the leading scorer in the NBA with Brooklyn Nets Kevin Durant.

He averages 28.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 6.8 assists. Although his offensive numbers are off the charts, people are starting to notice his defense more and more. Warriors teammate Draymond Green said he knew about it for some time now.

“It’s not just this season. I think it was last season as well. I don’t think anyone talked about it. I actually mentioned it a few times last year, like no one talks about Steph's defense,” Green told ClutchPoints.

Opponents still attempt to pick on Curry, but their success rate might not be as high as it once was. The added muscle and attention to detail have transformed Curry into a good defender. The Warriors have allowed just 96.0 points per 100 possessions in Curry's 650 minutes this season, per NBA.com, which is a testament both to his prowess on that end and the team's overall stinginess.

“The one thing that has been constant forever is his effort. He’s never not giving effort on that side of the ball. I think he used to reach a lot. He’d be in a great position and reach and foul. We used to harp on him and be like, ‘Stop reaching, stop reaching.' … Now he’s one of the best defenders we have on our team now, ” Green added.

If he can keep this up, Curry's effort might get him some All-Defensive votes. The one thing it has done is help his team to the best record in the NBA. The Warriors star's growth on that end of the floor puts him one step closer to another MVP and NBA championship.
