Bridgeport husband, wife die in crash on Old Town Road in Trumbull

TRUMBULL, Conn. (WTNH) — A husband and wife from Bridgeport died following a single-car crash in Trumbull Monday afternoon.

Trumbull Police said Noelli Escarraga, 69, was driving south on Quarry Road near Old Town Road when the vehicle crashed head-on into the bridge at around 3 p.m. His wife, Maria Escarraga, 62, was the only passenger.

Police said Noelli Escarraga died from his injuries Monday, and his wife sustained serious injuries in the crash. Maria Escarraga later died from her injuries, police said.

Old Town Road was closed between White Plains Road and Sylvan Avenue, but it has since reopened.

Police are working to determine the cause of the crash.
