Missing Richmond man found dead

RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) - UPDATE: Police say the body of a missing Richmond man has been found.

Police said 33-year-old Matthew Cox was last seen on Saturday, Nov. 27 around 6:00 p.m. They said Cox’s girlfriend told them he was going shopping around that time and hadn’t been seen or heard from since.

According to police, Cox was found dead Monday evening, around 6, in his vehicle in the Burnt Ridge Road area, just south of Berea near the Rockcastle County line.

A death investigation is now underway.

The coroner says it’s too soon to tell at this point if any foul play was involved in Cox’s death.

ORIGINAL: The Richmond Police Department is asking for help locating a missing man.

Police said 33-year-old Matthew Cox was last seen on Saturday, Nov. 27 around 6:00 p.m. They said Cox’s girlfriend told them he was going shopping around that time, and hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

He was last seen wearing a gray zip up jacket, khakis or sweatpants, vans and a toboggan. Police said he may be driving a 2017 Toyota Camry, red/maroon in color.

Police said they’re concerned because he needs medication that they’re not sure he has with him.
