FRAMINGHAM – Framingham High theatre returns to indoor performances in January with a 3-night production of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical In the Heights.
Performances are January 13-14-15 at Framingham High School.

In the Heights opened on Broadway in 2008. It was nominated for thirteen Tony Awards and won four, including Best Musical.

Miranda, best known for his musical Hamilton, wrote the earliest draft of In the Heights in 1999 during his sophomore year of college. In the Heights was first performed in 2005 in Waterford, Connecticut.
According to Broadway.com, “In the Heights centers on a variety of characters living in the neighborhood of Washington Heights, on the northern tip of Manhattan. At the center of the show is Usnavi, a bodega owner who looks after the aging Cuban lady next door, pines for the gorgeous girl working in the neighboring beauty salon and dreams of winning the lottery and escaping to the shores of his native Dominican Republic. Meanwhile, Nina, a childhood friend of Usnavi’s, has returned to the neighborhood from her first year at college with surprising news for her parents, who have spent their life savings on building a better life for their daughter. Ultimately, Usnavi and the residents of the close-knit neighborhood get a dose of what it means to be home.”
Tryouts were held earlier this month for the Framingham High musical. Cast list has not been made public.
