Malvern Village Services have been hard at work in November picking up curbside leaves and patching holes when weather is warm enough to do so. Malvern Village Council discussed road work and other features at its November meeting.

Village Administrator Derik Kaltenbaugh applied for and received a ARPA from Ohio BUILDS Water Infrastructure grant in the amount of $150,000. This grant is for planning and engineering design of a project that will replace waterlines.

According to the grant announcement document, "The existing water distribution system is beyond its useful life and experiencing severe deterioration leading to numerous line breaks. The project will replace almost 28,000 linear feet of waterline and support infrastructure impacting 1,302 people."

Kaltenbaugh confirmed that 100 tons of salt has been ordered from Morton and has arrived. A remaining 50 tons will be ordered when needed or at the end of the year to restock the shed.

In other business, council:

•HEARD a discussion about complaints from neighbors regarding Damascus Friends Church recycle center. Fiscal Officer Ashley Neading will call and try to see what the problem is. Council would like to look into specific complaints before action is taken to remove the recycle center.

•APPROVED a liquor license for Malvern Restaurant Management, presumably where Que Pasa will come at the former Lakeside Bar and Grill.

•APPROVED renewal of Village Solicitor Chad Murdock's Ohio Municipal Attorneys Association dues for $350.

•PAID the village bills from the appropriate funds for $8,825.16 in vendor invoices pre-approved by the Finance Committee Nov. 15 and $7,926.00 in payroll pre-approved by the Finance Committee and paid Nov. 10.

The next meeting will be Monday, Dec. 6, 7 p.m. at the Malvern Village Hall.
