Hollyoaks' Darren escape plan goes wrong

Darren Osborne's disastrous escape plan went awry in the latest Hollyoaks episode.

Darren has remained captive as part of Maya's scheme, since her boyfriend Ethan has had hesitations about going through with her demands to kill their prisoner.

In Monday's (November 29) first-look episode, Ethan admitted he couldn't let Darren go even if he wanted to because Maya comes from a ruthless crime family who'd never let a witness off free.

While Ethan was distracted, Darren managed to steal the room key out of his jacket pocket and start plotting an escape attempt for later.

Luke had managed to use Darren's phone tracker to find out the hotel where he was being held, then followed Ste, Sienna and Leela to one of their cleaning jobs at the very same place.

Leela entered the room where Darren was being held to clean… mere seconds after he'd fled to make his escape! Ethan chased Darren to the kitchen, where he forced him to surrender by pulling a gun.

"Is this what you really want? A gun-related murder charge on your conscience?" Darren desperately asked.

Ethan then warned: "If you step out that door, it'll be Maya coming for you. No one will find you. You'll just be the man who left his wife for riper fruit, lost and forgotten."

While Ethan took Darren back into his custody for now, he warned his captive that he would kill him if he ever tried to escape again.

Luke managed to catch a glimpse of Darren being forced into the elevator, but Ste, Sienna and Leela convinced him it hadn't actually happened.

Meanwhile, Nancy's frustrations continued to boil over at the school. As Olivia tried to get her to open up about what she's been going through, Nancy exploded and punched the head off the donkey prop from the nativity.
