AFC West standings: Broncos can jump into first with upset win in KC

The (AFC) West won’t be won in Week 13, but the Denver Broncos could jump into first place if they upset the Kansas City Chiefs on the road on “Sunday Night Football” this week.

After 12 weeks of play, the division is congested. Kansas City is No. 1 in the AFC West right now, but that could change weekly. Here’s a look at the current division standings going into Week 13.

Team Record Div. Conf.
Kansas City Chiefs 7-4 1-1 2-4
Los Angeles Chargers 6-5 2-1 4-3
Denver Broncos 6-5 1-1 3-4
Las Vegas Raiders 6-5 1-2 4-3

If the Broncos manage to upset the Chiefs on “SNF,” Denver would have a better division record and a head-to-head win over KC, which would propel the Broncos into first place in the AFC West with a 7-5 record.

After that, Denver will have another home game against the Chiefs, a road game against the Raiders and a road game against the Chargers remaining on the schedule. Those division games are shaping up to have big implications in the race to win the AFC West.

Entering the final six weeks of the season, the Broncos’ playoff hopes are still alive.
