SANOGO NAMED BIG EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NEW YORK – UConn sophomore forward Adama Sanogo, who produced an All-Tournament Team performance during the Huskies' three games at the Battle 4 Atlantis last week, has been named the BIG EAST Player of the Week.

Sanogo averaged 18.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.7 blocks and shot 47.8 percent overall and 90.9 percent from the foul line as UConn posted overtime victories over Auburn and VCU, and a narrow loss to Michigan State.

The 6-9 forward had a career-high 30 points in Wednesday's double-overtime win over nationally-ranked Auburn, in addition to 6 rebounds and 2 blocks and he followed that with a double-double – 18 points and 10 rebounds – and he added 6 blocks against Michigan State. In the win over VCU on Friday, Sanogo had 6 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.

Sanogo was previously named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Nov. 15, after posting back-to-back 20-point games in UConn's first two games.

The Huskies (6-1) continue their schedule on Tuesday, playing host to Maryland Eastern Shore, at 7 p.m. at the XL Center in Hartford.
