Training Mode
If this is your first time playing Halo Infinite or your first game in the series, Training Mode is a perfect place to experiment and try new weapons. It should be your second option after visiting the Tutorial. Check IGN’s guide to know more about this mode’s options and possibilities.
Training Mode Explained
First of all, you need to select a map. Choose one from the ten available at the game’s launch and start learning their different sections, the equipment or weapon racks locations, respawning points, and more.
Once you have spawned on the level, you will be joined by friendly and deadly Spartans — three and four, respectively. You can start picking up weapons and fighting enemies right away, playing an endless Slayer match without points or time.
However, the most interesting part about Training Mode is that you have a list of options from the pause menu that you can modify and create some ideal situations for your practice. These are all the options that you can tweak:
- Primary Weapon: Select the primary weapon you want to use. All the online weapons are available.
- Secondary Weapon: The same as the previous item, but with your secondary weapon. (Note: it can be any weapon, not only the pistols).
- Grenade Primary: Choose one from the four available grenades in the game.
- Grenade Secondary: Select one from the other three remaining grenades.
- Equipment: From the Active Camo to the Thruster, select any piece of equipment, including the Power Equipment.
- Friendly Bots: Choose how many allies you want to have near you. You can select a minimum of zero and a maximum of three.
- Enemy Bots: Same as above, but you can choose a maximum of four bots.
- Bot Difficulty: Select how tough the bots are going to be. The available options, from easier to harder, are Recruit, Marine, ODST, and Spartan.
- Reveal Enemy Location: You can turn on an option to have the enemies always marked on your radar.
- Playfighting: By selecting “on”, all the bots — friendly or not — will stop using their gear. They will still move and jump, but they won’t be able to hurt you.
- Infinite Ammo: Forget about changing weapons every minute.
- Deathless: As the title says, you won’t be able to die if you turn this option on.
Training Mode Tips
- While Weapon Drills can be a good place to practice your aim and efficiency with a specific weapon, its limited time and options make it a worse option than Training Mode. Plus, you can change equipment by just going through a menu, without restarting the level or anything.
- Using the “Playfighting” option is excellent when you don’t want to be worried about being killed by an enemy bot or some ally defeating your opponents. Sadly, you can’t make Spartans stand still, but it’s still useful for checking your aim in moving targets.
- It doesn’t matter if you pick big maps like Highpower: you won’t be able to select more than four enemy bots and three allies. On the other hand, all the vehicles will normally spawn in these levels, so you can at least practice your driving skills.
- Probably the best way of learning all the maps designs and sections without being bothered by time or an objective. You can also remove all the bots and be more comfortable while exploring.
- Last but not least: don’t forget that the Training Mode is mostly a controlled environment. Even when it can create a superlative simulation of a real match thanks to its adapting AI intelligence and its difficulties, the real training starts when you jump into real matches against other players. However, you can always come back to this mode and try whatever you need.
