The View met The New York Times today as guest host Jane Coaston joined the panel for hot topics. As the hosts discussed issues like the Omicron variant of COVID, new travel bans, and more, The View audiences fell for Coaston’s level-headed opinions and overall pleasantness at the panel. She’s one of the many guest hosts that’s come through this season’s revolving door of a fifth seat, replacing Meghan McCain as the conservative host at the table.

Coaston, however, is a little different than the guests that have come before her. While many of the guest hosts — like Cindy McCain, Condoleezza Rice, Caitlyn Jenner, and a couple of Trump staffers — have been Republican voices, Coaston actually identifies as a Libertarian. At the moment, she’s a contributor for ABC News and runs “The Argument,” a podcast over at the NYT.

As the panelists discussed their first hot topic — the GOP blasting Joe Biden for implementing an African travel ban — fans of The View took to social media to applaud Coaston for her debut on the show, in which she slammed the politicization of vaccines.

“The guest host is absolutely correct,” one user tweeted about her point. “If we are going to have a healthy dialogue let’s start with some facts. Politicizing a global health crisis is wrong & any administration doing needs to be called out. Folks are still dying from #Covid.”

Soon enough, The View audiences began lobbying for Coaston to join the panel permanently. “Jane Coaston is FANTASTIC,” one user shared. “@janecoaston you belong at that table full-time.”

Good news for fans of Coaston: she’ll return for tomorrow’s (Nov. 30) episode, though she’ll be gone after that. That is, of course, unless she gets hired for the position full-time. And it seems like she’s got a big enough fan club to make that a possibility!

The View airs weekdays on ABC at 11/10c.
