Disgraced former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo stepped back into his chief executive’s shoes to offer unsolicited guidance to New Yorkers on how to deal with the omicron coronavirus variant.

Cuomo, who resigned in August after New York Attorney General Letitia James published her investigation into sexual harassment allegations against him, resurrected his daily coronavirus briefings from the height of the pandemic in a tweet Sunday. He reused a slide from one of these briefings with the lesson, “An outbreak anywhere is an outbreak everywhere!”

He advised the public to wear masks, get vaccinated, and receive a booster shot to keep the infection rate down and “not go backward.”

Gov. Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency ahead of a possible spike in the omicron variant, though no cases have yet been detected in New York.

Cuomo delivered daily television briefings during 2020 to keep the public aware of COVID-19 status in New York, with Anthony Fauci and CNN host Chris Cuomo making guest appearances. He won an Emmy for the briefings, which was later revoked after the sexual harassment allegations against him were deemed credible.
