Three people were taken to a nearby hospital after a collision involving two vehicles entrapped two of them Monday morning in Southeast Austin.
The Austin-Travis County EMS said in a tweet that they responded to a "vehicle rescue" call around 9:21 a.m. at 13903 FM812 Road in the Del Valle area.
When paramedics arrived, they discovered two adults needing rescue. One of them was briefly trapped in their vehicle, ATCEMS said. At 9:43 a.m., ATCEMS said both people had been extricated from their vehicles.
One of them was declared a "trauma alert" and was transported to St. David's South Austin Medical Center with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.
ATCEMS later reported a third person involved in the collision and was being transported along with the second adult with potentially serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
The Texas Department of Transportation in Austin tweeted around 10:18 a.m. that FM 812 will remain closed to traffic - just east of Elroy Road - due to a fluid spill from the and is asking drivers to seek an alternate route until cleared.
