Introduction

Cardholders earn 3 points per dollar spent on car, hotel or airline travel booked through the Bank of America® Travel Center and 1.5 points per dollar spent on all other purchases, the Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard® credit card offers simple, solid rewards without an annual fee. The card offers some travel benefits, an introductory APR offer and charges no foreign transaction fees, but apart from these features, it doesn’t offer much else beyond its welcome bonus of 30,000 online bonus points after spending $3,000 in the first 90 days of account opening.

Among the travel coverage benefits the Business Advantage Travel Rewards card offers are travel accident insurance, lost luggage reimbursement, trip cancellation coverage and trip delay reimbursement. While the card includes overdraft protection, online and mobile management tools and $0 fraud liability, the travel benefits are the central additional benefits the card offers. These travel benefits are excellent to see with a card that doesn’t charge an annual fee, but noticeably absent is a collision damage waiver.

How the Bank of America Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard Stacks Up

Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard® credit card vs. Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card

The Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card offers a cash-back card that earns 1.5% cash back rewards on every business purchase. For those who don’t want travel rewards but still want the simplicity of a flat-rate reward structure, the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card may be a better choice than the Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard® credit card. With some similar other features, the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card offers a 0% introductory APR for 12 months on purchases, then a 18.49% - 24.49% variable APR applies for purchases and balance transfers. A balance transfer fee of either $5 or 5% of the amount of each transfer, whichever is greater, applies, but the additional benefits are quite different.

While the Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard® credit card offers a number of travel-related insurances, the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card only offers an auto rental collision damage waiver. The Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card also offers purchase protection and extended warranty protections. The Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard® credit card is the better option for those keen on travel and travel rewards, but the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card is a better primary card for those seeking flexible rewards.

Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard® credit card vs. U.S. Bank Business Leverage® Visa Signature® Card

The U.S. Bank Business Leverage® Visa Signature® Card charges a $0 introductory annual fee for the first 12 months, after that $95 per year and will earn 5% cash back on prepaid hotels and car rentals booked directly in the Rewards Center, 2% back in the top two categories each month and 1% back per dollar on all other eligible purchases. For those who regularly spend heavily in one or two areas, the U.S. Bank Business Leverage® Visa Signature® Card may work much better than the Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard® credit card in terms of reward earning, but it’s unlikely to do much else.

The U.S. Bank Business Leverage® Visa Signature® Card may provide a heavy rewards earning opportunity, but it’s light on the extra benefits. The only additional perks of note are no foreign transaction fees, no additional charge for employee cards and a welcome bonus: $750 in rewards after spending $7,500 in eligible purchases within the first 120 days of opening your account. We suspect the Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard® credit card will be the better option for anyone interested in extra perks.

Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard® credit card vs. Bank of America® Business Advantage Customized Cash Rewards Mastercard® credit card

The Bank of America® Business Advantage Customized Cash Rewards Mastercard® credit card earns 3% cash back in the category of choice, 2% cash back on dining purchases and unlimited 1% cash back on all other purchases. Earn 3% and 2% cash back on the first $50,000 in combined choice category/dining purchases each calendar year and 1% thereafter. This capped, bonus category structure differs significantly from the Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard® credit card’s structure and may not be preferable for those who want to “set it and forget it.”

Like the Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard® credit card, the Bank of America® Business Advantage Customized Cash Rewards Mastercard® credit card offers a 0% introductory APR on purchases for the first 9 billing cycles, then a 18.49% - 28.49% variable APR thereafter on purchases and balance transfers. A balance transfer fee of 4% of the amount of each transaction applies.

Unlike the travel rewards card, the cash rewards card doesn’t offer much in terms of travel protections other than an auto rental collision damage waiver. For travel enthusiasts, the Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard® credit card is likely to be the better choice. For others, the Bank of America® Business Advantage Customized Cash Rewards Mastercard® credit card should be weighed against other business cash-back cards.

Is the Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard for You?

The Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard® credit card offers solid cash back for a business credit card considering it doesn’t charge an annual fee, but the real benefit is likely in the travel insurances it offers and the low introductory APR period. We expect that there are likely better travel business cards out there for nearly everyone, but that some—perhaps those who bank with or have other financial products from Bank of America—may find this card useful.
