TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The 12 Points neighborhood in Terre Haute is in the middle of preparations for its fourth annual Christmas tree lighting.
The tree lighting is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 4 at Gold Medal Park in 12 Points. Mayor Duke Bennett will be in attendance to light the Christmas tree.
“Just seeing children. Children make Christmas,” event co-chairman Susan Mardis said. “Children make the magic of Christmas.”
Those who plan to participate are encouraged to bring diapers, which will be donated to Covered With Love to assist babies in need.
“Every year we have this event and people come out. It’s fun,” Karen Long said. “They sing along with the singers, they enjoy some hot cocoa, and it just brightens everyone’s spirits.”
