MrBeast's 'Squid Game' Has Nearly As Many Views As The Original Series

In case you missed it - I’m not sure how you could have - MrBeast made his very own Squid Game set. The content creator known for his large-scale video ideas has outdone himself by making an entire replica of the competitive games in Netflix’s Squid Game and did a competition within it himself. And it’s actually almost got as many views as the original series did, too.

Jon Youshaei on Twitter pointed out that the YouTuber’s recreation is now almost at the same number of views the Netflix show has. They tweet: “MrBeast Squid Games video: 103M views in 4 days. It took 7 weeks to make. Netflix’s Squid Games series: 111M views in 30 days. It took 10 years (!!) to make. More views, less time, fewer gatekeepers. That’s the promise of the creator economy.” At the time of writing, MrBeast's video is at 110 million.

Squid Game has been making waves in other media too...

The views in this tweet, however, has divided opinion. Though, yes, Squid Game took longer to complete due to production teams not taking a chance on the series, and MrBeast’s interpretation having done well, it doesn’t mean these aspects should be in competition. MrBeast’s project wouldn’t have been possible without the popularity and creativity of the former, and not everyone has the incredible resources MrBeast does.

To compare the two doesn’t make sense, but MrBeast’s video does show just how popular the concept is with people. Millions upon millions have had their interest piqued by the video and clicked. That’s an impressive feat no matter the source material. However, there are those that didn’t like the idea of MrBeast’s recreation, thinking that it went against the themes of the show and how people with huge amounts of money are free to do whatever they want while the poor may suffer. However, others have pointed at MrBeast’s huge charity efforts in the past as a way to signify his difference from other rich YouTubers.
