NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.
Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check NBC Sports EDGE’s player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.
Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 2W, 2D, 2UTIL 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL) and Yahoo has a $200 budget for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).
There are four games scheduled for Monday.
Forwards:
Jake Guentzel (Pittsburgh) – W – $8,000 FanDuel, $7,300 DraftKings, $27 Yahoo
Guentzel has been one of the safest bets lately with at least a point in nine straight games and 12 of his last 13 contests. He’s not quite in the top-tier of forwards, but he’s not far off with eight goals and 18 points in 20 contests. Especially on a day where there aren’t a lot of high-end options, Guentzel is a good bet.
Elias Lindholm (Calgary) – C - $7,700 FanDuel, $7,100 DraftKings, $30 Yahoo
Speaking of consistent contributors, Lindholm is going into Monday’s contest on a seven-game point streak. This is his second big point streak of the season with him also going on a six-game run to star the campaign. He’s up to nine goals and 23 points in 21 contests.
Pierre-Luc Dubois (Winnipeg) – C - $5,700 FanDuel, $6,700 DraftKings, $20 Yahoo
There are some great forwards available tonight, but it’s a little harder to find good mid-tier priced options. Dubois is worthy of consideration though, especially on FanDuel and Yahoo where the price is very competitive. He’s having a fantastic season with 11 goals and 18 points in 21 games.
Clayton Keller (Arizona) – W - $5,300 FanDuel, $4,300 DraftKings, $18 Yahoo
Keller is a gamble, but at that price, he’s not a bad one. He had a terrible stretch from Oct. 21-Nov. 16 where he scored just one goal and three points in 13 contests, but he’s contributed two goals and seven points in his last five games. Once he cools down again, he won’t be a great player to consider, but for now you might want to grab him.
Bargain Bin: Jared McCann (SEA) - $4,800 FanDuel/$5,300 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Tage Thompson (BUF) - $4,700 FanDuel/$5,200 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Kasperi Kapanen (PIT) - $4,300 FanDuel/$3,600 DraftKings/$16 Yahoo, Kyle Okposo (BUF) - $4,200 FanDuel/$3,200 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Artturi Lehkonen (MON) - $4,200 FanDuel/$2,600 DraftKings/$15 Yahoo, Yanni Gourde (SEA) - $4,000 FanDuel/$4,800 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo
Defensemen:
Rasmus Dahlin (Buffalo) - $4,700 FanDuel, $5,200 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo
There honestly aren’t that many great options tonight when it comes to defensemen. There are some great blueliners available, but none that have been doing especially well lately. So you may as well go with an option that’s somewhat cheap, but still effective and Dahlin fits that bill. He’s been doing well lately with two goals and seven points in his last eight games, giving him 13 points in 21 contests.
Bargain Bin: Kyle Capobianco (ARI) - $4,100 FanDuel/$2,500 DraftKings/$15 Yahoo, Noah Hanifin (CAL) - $3,900 FanDuel/$4,600 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Vince Dunn (SEA) - $3,900 FanDuel/$4,200 DraftKings/$12 Yahoo
Goaltenders:
Connor Hellebuyck (Winnipeg) - $8,000 FanDuel, $8,200 DraftKings, $32 Yahoo
Hellebuyck allowed four goals on 14 shots on Friday, but he bounced right back Saturday by allowing just two goals on 36 shots. He’s allowed two or fewer goals in nine of his last 10 games, so his rough performance on Friday has been the exception rather than the rule lately. He’ll also be facing the Arizona Coyotes, which have been the worst team offensively list season.
