It was a brutal day for the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. They failed to defeat the San Francisco 49ers and may have lost their superstar running back Dalvin Cook for some time. He is still undergoing tests on his shoulder, but as of now, it's not looking great for this team.

According to Ian Rapoport, Dalvin Cook suffered a dislocated shoulder on Sunday. Furthermore, the Vikings running back “is already playing with a torn labrum on one side. He'll have tests today to see if he tore the other side.” A dislocated shoulder is a rough injury to have as a running back, so hopefully, it doesn't get any worse. The MRI will reveal more information.

Cook has been dealing with injuries throughout the season. He's been on and off the field but has battled through it so far. With the Vikings currently in the playoff race, losing Dalvin Cook could be detrimental to their postseason hopes.

The MRI results are in and the Vikings have some new information. According to Ian Rapoport, “Dalvin Cook tore his labrum while dislocating his shoulder yesterday, the MRI revealed.” Cook is line to miss some time, but Minnesota is hopeful he can return in time for a playoff run.

Luckily the Vikings have a talented backup in Alexander Mattison who has filled in for Cook the last couple of years. Additionally, rookie Kene Nwangwu has flashed potential on special teams and could be in for an upgraded role with Davlin Cook out of the lineup.

The Minnesota Vikings will be taking on the Detroit Lions in their next matchup. Although this is a divisional matchup, Detroit has been awful this year. Minnesota doesn't necessarily need Dalvin Cook to earn a win in Week 13.

We'll see how it plays out, but keep an eye on the Vikings for the time being. They'll be monitoring Dalvin Cook closely throughout the rest of the season.
