Cam Newton is, indeed, back. But that isn't necessarily a good thing for the Carolina Panthers.

After initial excitement over Newton's return, Carolina fans were forced to endure the worst of the worst when it came to Cam. In Sunday's loss to the Dolphins, the Panthers' quarterback was benched after managing a career-worst 5.8 quarterback rating.

Newton has now played in 151 regular season and postseason NFL games, but had never experienced anything as bad as his 5-for-21, 92-yard, two-interception performance. He would ultimately be benched in favor of P.J. Walker.

The worst passer rating Newton had as a member of the Patriots came in a win over Arizona when he finished at 23.6.

The start was the second of the season for the veteran, who was coming off a solid 21-of-27, 189-yard outing in Carolina's loss to the Washington Football Team.
