Buckeyes suffer in the polls

COLUMBUS – Ohio State dropped from second to seventh in The Associated Press college football poll and the USA Today coaches poll after losing to arch-rival Michigan Saturday.

The Wolverines took over the No. 2 spot previously occupied by the Buckeyes while advancing to the Big Ten Championship game against Iowa in Indianapolis Dec. 4.

Michigan has its highest ranking since it peaked at No. 2 in 2016 after beating Ohio State to break an eight-game losing streak in the rivalry.

Undefeated Cincinnati moved up to No. 3 in the AP poll and remained at No. 4 in the coaches poll.

Georgia is No. 1 in both polls, with Alabama ranked second by the coaches and fourth by the media.

The Crimson Tide slipped a spot in the AP poll after beating Auburn in overtime.

Oklahoma State joins the top five for the first time since 2015. The Cowboys moved up two spots after beating Oklahoma for the first time since 2014.
