Bus driver shortage closes CNY school district: Holland Patent schools in Oneida County are closed Monday due to a shortage of bus drivers. The district posted a message about the closure Sunday, along with a job opening.

Evidence of 380-million-year-old coral reef uncovered on CNY hilltop:Nancy Furdock loved fossil hunting as a kid growing up in rural Pompey. So when odd, tubular-shaped rocks began tumbling from the backhoe digging the foundation for her new house atop a hill in Pompey, Furdock was intrigued. It would turn out to be an unprecedented unveiling of an ancient reef that existed millions of years before the dinosaurs.

Clay home destroyed in fire: Firefighters spent 70 minutes battling a fire in Clay over the weekend, but the home was ultimately destroyed. The cause is under investigation and the Red Cross is working to relocate the residents.

Woman shot in leg while driving on I-690: The woman told police she was shot at about 1:28 p.m. while driving on the highway near the Teall Avenue exit, police said. Police met the woman in the 1000 block of Canal Street. She was taken to Upstate University Hospital.

Boeheim wanted to learn about his team in Battle 4 Atlantis: So what did he find out? For starters, it appears there’s a wide gap between Syracuse and the upper-echelon teams that were part of the Battle 4 Atlantis field. There were a few positive takeaways too.

Babers isn’t biting: Syracuse’s football coach says he doesn’t want to talk about his job status. But the questions aren’t going to stop. The team lost to Pittsburgh on Saturday and finishes the year 5-7. Another losing season and a fading performance down the stretch will only serve to increase the volume and validity of questions about whether Babers will be back.
