The West Virginia State Police has announced a sobriety checkpoint in Berkeley County beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday. The checkpoint will be in the 7400 block of Winchester Avenue/ U.S. 11. The secondary location will be on U.S. 11, north of the intersection of Evan Run Drive in Martinsburg in front of the business known as Carpet World.

The primary purpose of this checkpoint is educate the motoring public about the effects of driving impaired either by alcohol or drugs, or both. During the checkpoint, drivers will be checked for any other traffic infractions as well. This project is funded through the Commission on Drunk Driving Prevention.
