‘It’s already getting a lot of people here’: Officials expect a large turnout for the Bridgeton Country Christmas

BRIDGETON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Although Parke County is best known for the Covered Bridge Festival, the Bridgeton Country Christmas is another event that provides an economic boost to the area’s local vendors.

Parke County Commissioner Jim Meece said the smaller festivals in the county are just as important as the Covered Bridge Festival.

“A lot of folks think that we just spend all of our time with the Covered Bridge Festival,” Meece said. “We really promote things all year long and this is one of those events.

Bridgeton Country Christmas is another opportunity for local vendors to sell and showcase their work. Meece said that many vendors also participated in the Covered Bridge Festival. He cited that this is really their last chance to sell before the winter months hit.

“This is huge for them to have one more chance before winter comes to sell their wears that they’ve worked on all year long before everything shuts down and hunkers down for the winter,” Meece said.

Although the Bridgeton Country Christmas is significantly smaller than the Covered Bridgeton Festival, Meece expects to see a large turnout for the Bridgeton Country Christmas.

“It’s already getting a lot of people here already so it’s going to be a great weekend for them,” Meece said.
