Burnley v Tottenham: Dallas couple travel 34 hours to see postponed match but Harry Kane saves day
Imagine making a 34-hour journey just to see your football club play - and then having the match postponed for snow when you arrive.
That's just what happened to Tottenham fans Ken and Brandi Saxton, who made the journey from Dallas, in the United States, to see Spurs at Burnley on Sunday.
The couple had no idea what was to follow when they posted on social media about the first 31 hours of their sleepless journey to Lancashire - but the post soon went viral.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live on Monday, Ken said the journey - from leaving Dallas at 6am local time on Friday to arriving at their hotel room in Burnley - took 34 hours in total.
As the snow came down heavily at Turf Moor on Saturday and into Sunday morning, the excited couple begin to fear things may not end well.
And their fears were confirmed when the match was postponed 20 minutes after they arrived at a pub in Burnley and less than a hour before kick-off.
At least they could make light of the situation.
"Most people that I've interacted with on Twitter have spoken about how gutted I must feel or how disappointing everything must have been," added Ken.
"But I came over here mainly to be with my friends and make new ones.
"So football or not, I was able to hang out with some really incredible people and meet some new ones."
He added the couple are hoping to see Spurs' next two home games - against Brentford on Thursday and Norwich next Sunday.
And the best is yet to come as they could be guests of honour of Spurs striker Harry Kane at one of those matches.
Kane was made aware of the initial tweet, which has now been retweeted more than 4,000 times and liked more than 15,000 times, and invited the pair to a home match as his guests "the next time they are in London.".
It was an offer that went down well as Brandi responded: "Well the husband has officially gone viral and we've personally been invited to watch the Spurs by Harry Kane."
Something to sweeten that 34-hour return journey home then, at least...
