One shortstop option is off the board for the Yankees.
Marcus Semien agreed to a seven-year, $175 million contract with the Rangers, The Post’s Joel Sherman confirmed Sunday evening.
Semien, who hit .265/.334/.538 with the Blue Jays and earned an All-Star nod last season, seemed like a logical shortstop candidate for the Bombers. But now, the focus could turn to the likes of Corey Seager or Trevor Story if the Yankees decide to go the route of free agency.
Carlos Correa is also a free agent, but given his history with the Yankees while playing with the Astros, signing him could be a tough sell with the fan base
For Texas, which finished last in the AL West last year at 60-102, Semien fills a hole in the lineup, but they’ll need more than just one player to contend. The 31-year old immediately becomes a lineup centerpiece for a team that traded Joey Gallo to the Yankees at the last trade deadline.
