Salma Hayek on her role in Marvel’s ‘Eternals’

Her role’s no supe du jour

Marvel’s knocked off something called “Eternals.” Angelina Jolie, Kit Harington, Gemma Chan, Salma Hayek play aliens living on Earth and fighting something called the Deviants. Let’s imagine the thing’s better than fighting whoever thought up this idea of a movie. OK?

Salma Hayek: “It’s a legendary universe. For our mission on Earth, we’re different ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientation and most diverse cast of superheroes. I am the leader of the ‘Eternals.’ ” Yeah.

It’s very heavy on very tight outfits which gives you an idea of the very power of this script.

“I was terrified of my superhero costume. I’m claustrophobic. But then I realized this is bigger than I am and what it’ll mean to Arab, brown and Latino girls like me and I was really moved. The film asks ‘Are humans worth saving?’ ”

Right. And what you should really save to watch is an old dusty 1950’s black-and-white film of Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney.

Musings for the holiday season

Holiday ideas from a Jeremy Murphy:

Remove “White Christmas” from playlists because weather is unconsciously racist; identify as to she/he/crossover or however the main dish identifies; if table debate’s too heated, pick an agreeable topic, like how great a mayor’s Bill de Blasio; deforestation depletes our planet of paper, so encourage guests to wipe hands on their clothes; observing human rights, have people silence their iPhones manufactured by foreign labor

And, I’m saying: Go to Pietro Mosconi’s restaurant Monte’s Trattoria on the Village’s MacDougal Street.

Get in ’line

“Aline” is a soondue musical dramedy about Céline Dion.

We’re talking about a French-Canadian from a cramped Quebec cottage with 13 siblings who now has a Vegas mansion. Awkward, age 12, bad teeth, bad hair, a record producer discovers her, upgrades her wardrobe, develops her stage presence. She marries this decades-older mentor. Her name becomes Céline.

“Aline” opens here early next year. Hirelings who send me stuff on this film add the note, “But no interview because we have no access to Céline.” I guess we should have talked to her when she was Aline.

Never forget

Lest you think the Kyle Rittenhouse case was a big deal:

1945. Nuremberg — “the biggest trial in history” — was 22 defendants who murdered over 1 million. Hitler’s Munich Courts stopped counting at that number. All convicted of charges; 14 received the death penalty. Involved was Gabriel Bach, former Israeli Supreme Court Justice, and surviving prosecutor of Eichmann. 2005 saw the Int’l Judging Nuremberg Conference — laws, rallies, trials, photos, videos, visits to Courtroom 600 in Nuremberg and Dachau. Its chair was former New York Chief Judge Sol Wachtler.
