The Los Angeles Kings‘ 4-2 win over the Ottawa Senators will be marred by the wild incident which occurred during the third period. Kings' winger Brendan Lemieux and Senators winger Brad Tkachuk were involved in a grapple late in the game. All appeared to be normal until Tkachuk emerged from the tussle with a bloodied-up hand. Tkachuk claimed that Lemieux bit his hand during their scrap, causing his hand to bleed. Lemieux was issued a match penalty and was ejected from the game for his actions.

After the game, Tkachuk went on a verbal tirade, criticizing the antics of the Kings' winger, per Bruce Garrioch of The Ottawa Sun.

“It was the most gutless thing somebody could ever do. This guy, you can ask anyone of his teammates, nobody ever wants to play with him,” Tkachuk said of Lemieux. “The guy's just a joke, he shouldn't be in the league. This guy's gutless. No other team wants him, he's going to keep begging to be in the NHL, but no other team is going to want him, he's an absolute joke.”

Tkachuk continued on to call Lemieux a “brick head,” as he went off on the 25-year-old, who was offered a hearing regarding the incident by the NHL Department of Player Safety.

Lemieux has been in the NHL since 2017. He's currently playing on his third team, having featured for the Winnipeg Jets and New York Rangers, in addition to the Kings. This season he's featured in 14 games, scoring four goals and providing one assist while averaging just under 11 minutes on the ice per night.

Tkachuk, 22, maybe a few years younger than Lemieux, but that didn't stop the fourth-year player from calling out the childish antics displayed by the Kings' winger.
