Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Ashton Dulin (16) scores a long Colts touchdown Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021, during a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Former Malone University wide receiver Ashton Dulin is in his third season in the NFL.

Playing minimally after signing as an undrafted free agent with the Indianapolis Colts in 2019, Dulin hasn't made too big of an impact.

Sure, Dulin leads the NFL in special teams tackles. But before today, Dulin had just 10 catches for 86 yards.

On Sunday against the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dulin made a name for himself.

In the second quarter, with the Colts losing 7-3 to the Buccaneers, quarterback Carson Wentz launched the ball 52 yards in the air, connecting with Dulin for a touchdown. With Dulin's run after the catch, it ended up being a 62-yard play.

"Ashton Dulin, how you doin?," CBS broadcaster Nate Burleson remarked playing the highlight at halftime.

Suffice to say, some football fans did not know anything about Dulin.

At Malone, Dulin was a star. As a junior, he had 59 receptions for 1.050 yards and 10 touchdowns on his way to being named first-team All-Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

As a senior, Dulin had 61 receptions for 984 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was named the conference’s Offensive and Special Teams Player of the Year.

Malone shut down its football program after Dulin’s senior season. Dulin, who is from Reynoldsburg, Ohio, was also a track standout for the Pioneers.
