Ex Home and Away star Dan Ewing reveals whether he'd return again

Home and Away's Dan Ewing, who played Heath Braxton in the Australian soap, has opened up about whether he'd ever go back to Summer Bay.

The actor started on the show in a supporting role as Reuben Humphries in 2007, later returning in 2011 to take on the larger role of the hot-tempered Heath Braxton.

He left the show in 2014 to pursue other projects, but returned again in 2016 to reprise his role for two seasons.

"I'm a stickler for storylines," he told Now to Love, when asked whether there was a chance of him returning again. "It's not about ratings for me.

"Obviously I'm doing stuff now that takes a lot of time. Would I turn my nose up at it [returning to H&A] because I see it as lower down the rung? No."

"I think what they're doing now is just fantastic," he added. "The trained eye will see they've updated all their cameras and put a lot of money into production value."

Ewing also reprised his role earlier this year, arriving to back up the Paratas when they were being blackmailed by gangsters Paul and Leon.

Speaking about this brief cameo, the actor said executive producer Lucy Addario had a dream that kicked off the idea for the appearance.

"She has a weird little epiphany about me," he said. "They called me and I happened to be in Sydney and drove 20 mins from my place and then went and had a fight in the Home and Away car park, caught up with a few mates. It was lovely."

While Ewing wouldn't confirm whether the possibility of Heath's return would ever become a reality, he did say he has nothing but good memories from his time on the soap.

"People try to leave Home and Away in their wake but I celebrate it," he explained. "I think it's funny when people don't want to talk about it! It was an incredible experience. I love everyone on there."

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR (UK) and Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 (Australia). Selected classic episodes are available via Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
