We look forward to the community seeing the fairgrounds in a new “light” by making a new tradition at the fairgrounds this holiday season! HOLIDAY LIGHTED NIGHTS: Debuting Thanksgiving weekend and continuing through December, the Washington County Fairgrounds is proud to present “Holiday Lighted Nights,” a drive-thru holiday experience located throughout the fairgrounds featuring holiday-lighted scenes. A tradition since 1890, the Washington County Fair has served as a place for generations where memories are made each August for the many exhibitors, vendors, and fair patrons that join us. “Holiday Lighted Nights” will expand on that experience and have the fairgrounds serve as a place where our community can join us for new traditions throughout the year. We look forward to the community seeing the fairgrounds in a new “light” by making a new tradition at the fairgrounds this holiday season! More information is available online at www.washingtoncountyfairgrounds.com.

WINTERTIME WONDERLAND: Billed as the largest indoor holiday event in the Capital Region, is currently open Nov. 20 – Dec. 23 with varying hours. It is located at 195 Troy Schenectady Rd in Latham, previously occupied by Kmart and directly next to Vent Fitness. This 50,000-square-foot indoor holiday event is set at the North Pole and features many attractions inside. Dazzling decorated villages invite all to take selfies at every turn. Families will find themselves gliding through a frosty ice maze, parading past Santa’s village, peeking into Santa’s workshop, meeting Mr. Claus and friends, wandering down Candy Cane Alley’s whimsical light display, helping stop You-Know-Who from stealing Christmas, meeting his real-life dog Max, and so much more. Families will also have the opportunity to stop at Santa’s Post Office where children are encouraged to mail letters to Santa with the inclusion of a return address for Santa to respond. Upon entering, children will receive a greeting card for them to decorate and keep. This is the beginning of a scavenger hunt, meet-and-greet game, designed to have children find all of the holiday characters along the way such as the Gingerbread Man, Mrs. Claus, Elves, Ice Princesses, a Snowman, and more. Characters will give each child a sticker to be placed on their greeting card. Toward the end of the event, all are invited to shop at the local vendor market, make-your-own Sand Art, support local non-profits, view and purchase professional photos taken throughout the event, and more. WINTER STRESS REDUCTION PROGRAM: Registration is now open for the Saratoga Stress Reduction Program, an eight-week course in mindfulness based meditation and stress reduction beginning January 22nd in person at Caffe Lena. The Saturday morning sessions are held 8:30-10 a.m. and run through March 12th and provide instruction in formal mindfulness meditation methods including a body scan, gentle yoga, sitting and walking meditation. The practices offer students a means of self-regulation and encourages greater awareness. Students learn to reduce symptoms of psychological and somatic distress and gain the ability to respond to challenges with less reactivity and greater clarity. The course also provides instruction in informal practices such as being in nature and eating with awareness. Midway through the course, students learn about the physiology of stress and how it relates to their reactivity patterns. Using the latest scientific research, they explore how the act of mindful noticing activates innate internal resources that can change our perception of daily events, including stressful ones. This altered appraisal allows students to use a broader range of both internal and external responses so that they need not remain locked in stressful patterns. The Saratoga Stress Reduction Program classes take place at Caffe Lena, 47 Phila St. in Saratoga Springs. Pre-registration is required. Class size is limited and we accept many insurances. For more information or to register, please call our offices at 581-3180 ext. 300 or 307. You can also visit our website: www.saratogastressreduction.com.
