Rams QB Matthew Stafford reportedly dealing with chronic back problems, arm and elbow pain

Matthew Stafford isn't on the Los Angeles Rams' injury report and he's expected to play in the team's Week 12 game against the Green Bay Packers, but his long-term health is becoming an increasing concern, according to ESPN's Dianna Russini.

"Stafford's arm has been in a lot of pain, he has elbow pain, and his back has a chronic issue that he deals with every single day. His health is certainly an issue," Russini said on ESPN on Sunday.

Stafford, 33, played the first 12 seasons of his career with the Detroit Lions before he was traded to the Rams in March. In his final 10 seasons with the Lions, Stafford missed only eight games, all in 2019 when he suffered from non-displaced fractures in his spine.

Through 10 games with the Rams, Stafford has 24 touchdowns, eight interceptions, and a career-best 106.1 quarterback rating. After starting the year 7-1, Los Angeles lost back-to-back games before a Week 11 bye with Stafford throwing just two touchdowns and four interceptions during the skid.

The Rams traded Jared Goff, two first-round picks, and a third-round pick to the Lions to acquire Stafford. He's under contract through the 2022 season and is still playing on the five-year, $135 extension he received from Detroit in 2017.
