This is what kept Odell Beckham from signing with the Packers

Odell Beckham Jr. may show the Packers just what they’re missing on Sunday.

Before signing with the Rams earlier this month, the Packers emerged as a possible destination for Beckham during his mini free agency. The reason the three-time Pro Bowler chose Los Angeles over Green Bay apparently came down to money.

The Packers are said to have offered Beckham only the veterans minimum, $1.075 million over a full season, plus incentives, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday. The Packers also reportedly declined to increase the offer after being asked to do so.

“He wasn’t going to take the same or less money to go to Green Bay [over Los Angeles],” one source told Schefter.

Beckham got $1.25 million over one year to go to the Rams. In his first game, he caught two passes on three targets for 18 yards. Rams coach Sean McVay said this week he expects Beckham to be more involved in the offense on Sunday.

“Odell [is] just getting more familiar,” McVay told reporters Friday. “For him to be able to even play against the Niners is an incredible credit to him.”

Beckham joined the Rams after an extended falling out with the Browns and quarterback Baker Mayfield. That ended with his release following Beckham’s camp appearing to blame Mayfield for his lack of production.
