Report suggests that Evander Kane is drawing interest from within the Eastern Conference

With San Jose Sharks forward Evander Kane becoming eligible for return this week after serving his 21-game suspension for violating the NHL's COVID-19 protocol and acquiring a fake vaccine card, the big questions seem to be whether or not the 30-year-old has played his last game as a Shark, or even his last game in the National Hockey League.

Kane has been an easy target for the media throughout his career due to his loud personality and the cloud of controversy that seems to follow the Vancouver, BC native around from. In fact, many current and former teammates of Kane's have labeled him a distraction, with multiple Sharks players stating that they would prefer it if the organization moved Kane to avoid any further disruptions.

Rumour has it that the Sharks are finally willing to retain salary in order to move on from Evander Kane, and despite the off-ice circus that comes with the troublesome winger, it appears as though the Sharks may have at least one dance partner.

According to the New York Post's Larry Brooks, there is a team in the Eastern Conference that has shown significant interest in Kane. While Brooks did not reveal any details as to which team it might be, he did eliminate the Rangers as a possibility.


Kane, the player, can actually be a very useful piece on the ice, particularly in the postseason when the games get tougher, with his proven scoring ability, his competitive nature, his ferocity and his willingness to get his hands dirty.

Kane, the person, on the other hand can be quite the vexing presence and a definite concern when it comes to potentially interfering with locker room chemistry and all of the negative press that is sure to follow him to his next destination.
