Police identify man, 24, shot 18 times and killed in Olney

Philadelphia gun violence continues as two more men are shot and killed

Two men are gunned down, one in Northeast Philadelphia, the other in Olney, as violence continues

Philadelphia police have identified a man who died Saturday after he was shot more than a dozen times in the city’s Olney neighborhood. 

Officers responded to a call for a person with a gun around 7 p.m. on the 500 block of West Duncannon Avenue. 

Responding officers found the victim, 24-year-old Angel Rivera suffering from as many as 18 gunshot wounds throughout the body. 

Responding officers transported Rivera to Albert Einstein Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later. 

No arrest was made and no arrest was recovered. The investigation is active and ongoing.

Editor’s Note: An earlier version of this article identified the victim as a 33-year-old male based on information from police. Philadelphia police have since identified the victim as a 24-year-old man.
