MORRISTOWN — Union Local blew open a close game thanks to a fourth-quarter in which it outscored invading Harrison Central, 15-3 to go on and post a 49-35 victory.

The Jets (1-0) were led by a trio of double-figure scorers. Sophomore D.J. Butts had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Junior Beezer Porter added 11 and senior Elijah Butterworth chipped in with 11. Gannon Kerns added nine.

The Huskies (0-1) were led by sophomore Hayden Cassidy, who scored 19 points, including five bonus goals. Jace Madzia added eight.

River 53, Frontier 27

BEAVERTON — River opened the season with an impressive victory against the Cougars.

The Pilots held a 25-6 lead at halftime and never looked back.

River (1-0) was led by senior Brody Longwell’s 15. Sophomore Kabel Isaly added 10 and junior Brody Lollathin posted nine points.

Buckeye Local 41, Toronto 39

TORONTO — Invading Buckeye Local posted a strong fourth quarter to pull out a 41-39 victory against the Red Knights.

The Panthers (1-0) were led by Cameron Best’s 14 points. Luke Darrah added seven.

The Red Knights were led by Shane Keenan’s 23.
