Forza Horizon 5 Multiplayer
As with Forza's from the past, Forza Horizon 5 features several different ways for you to group up with other players and race. Whether you want to hop into co-op missions with your friends or take on opponents in modes like The Eliminator, Horizon 5 has everything you're looking for. Below, we'll run you through all of the modes and how to link up with friends.
Multiplayer Modes
There are several different types of modes to dive into in Horizon 5. Here are all of the modes currently on offer:
- Co-op for any Event (e.g. Expeditions, Circuits, Cross Country)
- Horizon Arcade
- Horizon Tour
- The Eliminator
- Horizon Open (traditional PVP matches)
- Rivals
- Open-world exploration (which includes head-to-head challenges)
Some of these are self-explanatory, but a few might still be confusing to new players. Arcade is where you'll go if you want to jump into minigame events with other players. The Eliminator pits 50 players against each other in a Battle Royale-like take on the racing genre. In Rivals, you'll race against other players' times on a specific course to try and best them.
How to Group with Friends
If you want to play with friends, you'll need to form a Convoy. This is Fora Horizon 5's version of a clan or lobby of friends. You can join with up to 12 friends across either Xbox or PC (Horizon 5 is cross-play, after all). Then, you'll be able to do any of the co-op events together as you drive around Mexico.
To get into a Convoy, you'll first need to head into the menu. From here, you can hit the Y button on your Xbox controller, which will bring up the Convoy menu. Then, you need to select "Create a Convoy" and set it to "Invite Only" if you only want your friends to join. The leader will be the person who starts the Convoy and the leader is the one who selects which races the group participates in.
