After a lackluster start to the season, Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles have seemingly put it all together. They've rattled off three wins in their last four games, the last being a 40-29 drubbing of the New Orleans Saints. They've done this off the back of their second-best running attack, averaging 153 rushing yards per game.

How do the team's receivers feel about this approach to the offense? Well, Eagles rookie wide receiver DeVonta Smith certainly has no objections to playing in this system. In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Smith talked about his role in the offense when he's not the focus.

“When it (the run game) is being that successful, you enjoy watching those guys get their chance doing what they do… Eventually, it’s going to open up the pass game sooner or later. So every game just keep chipping away.”

Some players might pout at the idea of not getting enough touches in the offense. Not Smith, though. In fact, the rookie receiver also does his part when he's not running routes, participating in the blocking that anchors the Eagles' rushing attack. It's something that DeVonta Smith's teammates have taken notice and appreciated about him.

Jordan Mailata (Eagles LT): “I think a lot of teams take it for granted how much we need help from the wide receivers in run schemes and when you can have a guy like Smitty to do those things and to have an impact, it’s incredible.”

As for DeVonta Smith, he's proven to be no slouch when the Eagles offense needs him to produces. He's been targeted 74 times, catching 46 of those for more than 650 yards. His prowess in the open field, as well as his willingness to block for his teammates, have helped the Eagles stay in the playoff hunt.
