The Colorado State Patrol said eight people were hospitalized with a range of injuries Thursday following a four-vehicle crash Thursday evening.

Colorado State Patrol Trooper Josh Lewis said the crash occurred at 6:50 p.m. Thursday at the off-ramp of I-25 and Colo. 119 between Longmont and Firestone.

Lewis said a 34-year-old man from Wellington was traveling southbound on I-25 in a 2017 Subaru. The other three cars involved were at the 240 exit ramp to Colo. 119 at a stoplight.

Lewis said the man experienced a medical episode and entered the left median and then the 240 exit ramp. The front of the man’s vehicle collided with the side of a 2021 Subaru. Lewis said that collision caused the man’s car to then roll onto its roof and collide with an Acura SUV. The crash also caused the 2021 Subaru to be pushed into a 2014 Subaru.

Lewis said everyone in the crash was taken to a hospital. The driver of the 2017 Subaru was hospitalized with moderate injuries. The driver of the 2021 Subaru, a 43-year-old woman from Firestone, was seriously injured. There were two occupants of the Acura: a 16-year-old girl from Firestone and 38-year-old woman from Loveland. The girl didn’t have injuries, but was still taken to the hospital, and the woman’s injuries were moderate. Three people were inside the 2014 Subaru: a 56-year-old woman from Wellington, who didn’t have injuries; an 83-year-old-woman from Greeley, who had minor injuries, and a 61-year-old man from Greeley, with no injuries.

Lewis said there were no drugs, alcohol or speed factors involved in the crash.
