It has been a rough start to the 2021-22 NBA season for the Los Angeles Lakers. The team currently finds themselves with a 10-11 record despite having a superstar trio consisting of LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, and Anthony Davis.

One are the Lakers have sorely struggled has been the one that occurs most for them offensively; spot-up shooting. Los Angeles is producing just 0.965 points per possession in such sequences — ranking 20th among all teams in the NBA, so far.

The Lakers have primarily relied upon Carmelo Anthony and Malik Monk as the their most frequently utilized spot-up threats. While Anthony has been among the NBA’s most efficient threats, Monk has struggled.

When looking beyond Monk, there just aren’t much for reliable threats to turn to that are getting the job done. Avery Bradley and Wayne Ellington have been helpful, but another option is needed around the likes of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook.
